Growing a Biblical Herb Garden
Herbs like hyssop, mint, mustard, coriander, and dill appear throughout Scripture—and they are among the easiest plants to grow.
- Choose a sunny spot with at least 6 hours of direct sun and well-drained soil. A raised bed or large containers work beautifully.
- Mustard and dill grow quickly from direct sowing once the soil warms. Coriander (cilantro) prefers cooler spring or fall weather.
- Plant mint in a container—it spreads eagerly and will happily take over a bed.
- Hyssop is a hardy perennial; once established it returns each year and draws bees and butterflies.
- Harvest often to encourage bushy growth, and leave a few plants to flower and set seed for next season.
